Parenting Support in Summerville, SC

parenthood is beautiful and challenging.

Couples come to me worrying about being a “good parent” or they’re finding themselves at odds with their partner on HOW to parent. They come to therapy because they are having a hard time talking to their kids who are presenting as angry, withdrawn or disconnected. Parents can feel really lost on how to get their kids to open up and talk.

I help my clients gain deeper insight into these roadblocks and find more joy and connection with their children AND in their relationship.

How can I help? I help my clients gain deeper insight into these roadblocks and find more joy and connection with their children AND in their relationships. I introduce my clients to the world of “conscious parenting”. We practice how to be curious, increase self-awareness, and take a more collaborative stance with our kids. Love, guidance, and boundaries are essential in nurturing children to be resilient and confident.

My Approach to Therapy

I am Level Three trained in Relational Life Therapy. This therapeutic approach emphasizes that the key to a healthy relationship is to behave and think more relationally with your partner. This means looking at your attachment style, family of origin, and relational trauma.

I am an observer- I pay close attention to how couples interact with one another. I am directly pointing out how they are keeping themselves stuck in an unhealthy dance of arguments and disconnection.

I am a coach and a “fellow traveler.” My work is supported by my journey of being in unhealthy family dynamics and disempowering relationships. I tell clients I am in a happy and loving relationship with myself and my partner BECAUSE I actively do the work. If I don’t do the work- I will fall back into maladaptive behaviors. I am no better and no worse than you.
