Support Group for Black Women and Women of Color
Offering an affordable option to mental health services
About Support Group for Black Women
Many women navigate the unique experience of being both a racial minority and a political or ideological minority in their communities, workplaces, families, or social circles. If you’ve ever felt like you have to stay quiet about your values, explain your lived experience, or carry the emotional weight of current events alone — you are not alone.
This peer support group offers a warm, culturally responsive space women of color in South Carolina to connect, process political stress, navigate relationship and family strain, and build community with others who share similar values. Through guided peer support and shared conversation, members can reduce isolation, feel seen and understood, and strengthen resilience while living in a polarized environment.

Additional Information for Your Comfort
-
At the start, we will briefly check in with one another and get a sense of who would like to share and get support from the group. You have permission to chose how you’d like to participate. Group members tend to find themselves seeking support, sharing their reflections , and witnessing other members heal and grow.
-
This is a peer-led support group. As the facilitator I offer gentle guidance and structure to invite conversations, deepen exploration, and evoke opportunities to heal and stretch our growth.
-
Although these groups are powerful, they do have limitations and are not designed to support or treat the following:
active suicidal ideations
mental illness that significantly impacts daily functioning
Those who may feel too triggered or sensitive to group feedback, differing perspectives and beliefs (ie. quick to anger)
Those who need support with emotional regulation skills. DBT/CBT groups may be recommended.
-
As these groups grow, I plan to create more spaces
Please email me your interest at KaylaStewart@TheNestingSpaceLLC.com and I can notify you of upcoming support group gatherings.
